Just my 1st gear is sometimes quite hard to select which is really annoying, anyone got an ideas what it could be and is it an easy fix.

clutch... or sometimes you have to release the clutch and apply it again to get it in first Smile

age of the car come to expect it, peugeots arnt known for great gearboxes anyway, mine misses reverse sometimes and it does struggle with first occasionally

its an 2006, gearbox and clutch seem fine, could it be gear linages or the gear linkage bushes?

hrm could be mate but again its not an uncommon fault personally would put it down to that, depends how bad it really is and if you can put up with it

peugeot sell them at an ok price i believe. well it was last year before any price increases!

check oil level and make sure you got the right grade of oil

gear linkage i think. I get this sometimes when its very cold and the engine is cold. When applying pressure slowly lift off the clutch and you will find it will slot in.

I know exactly what you mean! I also suffer problems with the gear box and 1st gear is particularly bad. As someone else said it is definitely worse when cold after 15-20mins of driving it generally gets better.

I have fitted group N linkages and a short shift kit, while this has improved shifting especially in 3rd-5th it hasn’t solved the problem of it being really difficult to get into 1st. The best way I’ve found to overcome this is to lift the clutch, blip the throttle, clutch back down and it’ll go in. However, this often leads to the car next to me at the lights seeing this as some kind of invitation for a race – which is great except a lot of cars are faster than my 1.6 Sad
