Had my 206 less than a week and the Engine Management light is on the dash!
can anyone recommend a fault code reader to buy, seen a few on ebay for sale. Am thinking it will be best in the long run to buy one rather than pay a garage to do it for me everytime this light comes on.

Wouldn't it make sence to get a garage to check first? Would work out cheaper rather than paying out for a reader if it's only needed once.

No.
OBDII readers are about £25.

The £25 one will only read basic powertrain codes and will not go into any detail

i think garages charge about 40 quid to diagnose.
ive seen a reader on ebay for 16 quid that you plug into your laptop, gives you the fault code and its meaning. and some for 70 quid that have a display and other options like language selection.
may be a good investment i think.

UPDATE:
the light has gone off on its own..
is this normal? i thought that once it came on it had to be reset with a code reader to get it off again.
or does it reset itself for minor faults once the fault had cleared?
