Hi,
I had the cat and lambda probe replaced two days ago as my 206 failed it's mot because of it.
When driving it home yesterday, the eml came on.
I took it back to the garage this morning and they said it came up with a whole list of codes, some not related to the cat at all. They set the ecu back to factory settings? and deleted all the codes and told to me to see how it was now.
To be fair, the eml didn't come on on the 3minute drive to work, but I am just a bit concerned that they didn't actually do anything apart from uploading default software into the car. At least I didn't have to pay anything.
Does anyone know if this a a normal way to approach such a fault?
I forgot to get the list of fault codes from them. Might have been usefull.
The car drives as normal.
it's a 2002 1.1lx

they have cleared the fault codes, if they now come back again then you know that you have a problem. standard procedure

Just run it and see if it comes back on again, then take it back if it does.
Sometimes pugs do things like this, there just tempremental.

When I got my car it had a "new cat" fitted prior which flung up a nice anti pollution fault on the way home after buying. Had the code reset countless times, I thought it was the Lambda sensor but never got round to changing it, long story short I got an original cat (second hand of course, pug want £800) and I haven't had the fault code back for over 6 months.

knowing my luck, I probably have countless resets to look forward to untill I can find an original cat. Would the fault fall under the warranty you get with a new cat, even if it is an aftermarket one. Surely if it's the cause of the faults, it is not fit for use.

Problem should be sorted. Back to the garage today as light was on again. Apparently the lambda sensor was faulty. Let's hope the new new one will be better than the old new one.
