hi i have a 206 gti on a w reg for a wee project and i saw how helpful this website has been to others so thought i would give it a go. well here goes. i bought a 206 gti which isn't starting there is no spark. the guy i have bought it from says its an immobiliser problem but im not sure. he has put new coil pack on it, new crank sensor, new earth between gearbox new battery. he also told me that has changed the ecu, bsi transponder ring and barrel but it still wont start.! he gave me all the old ecu and stuff that came with the car. it turns over no bother but just wont fire.im just wondering if i should change the ecu and stuff back to the orginal ones and see from there? i did notice that when key is in car ignition but ignition not on and when you ipen door there is no beeps. is that sign of immobiliser problem? any help would be great

surely if the fuel cut off has been triggered it would still be sparking ? is the car fueling properly? your p**sing in the wind on here untill you correctly say what its doing?

is it sparking?
is it fueling?
is the fuel pump priming when you turn ignition on?

He said it ain't sparking which unless he has tested this could just mean it's turning over but not starting. True tho need more info on what test you have carried out.

i dont know it wasn't me who fitted ecu, bsi and transponder. how do you do that? i seen a website that if you send your ecu to them they will make it a free running one and that will do away with immobiliser? will that work?

Why you want a car that was unimobilised i don't know, especially one that has a gti badge on it!! Smile I personally wouldn't send my ECU to anybody claiming to do this kind of work as god knows what effect it could have on other systems aswell as future reliability.

Just get it to a pug dealer or someone with suitable diagnostic equipment and get the imobiliser programmed, it will save you problems later on i would expect

steve

If in doubt, drop a cog and put your foot down Smile
