Hello people, I'm new here, I don't love 206's, infact I hate the one I have, I prefer my 2 Alfas more Wink But that doesn't matter.

Anyway this is the gf's car, we are both using it just now as my cars are both off the road having work done since it's winter. The problem I'm having has developed over the last weel or so.

Details:
1.4 8v s on an 03 plate.
Air con
No mods

It has developed a misfire after it has been running for a few minutes when under power, not a slight one, sounds as if it is running on only 3 pistons at any RPM below 2500. Compression is fine, fuel filter is new. There also seems to be a major air leak somewhere near the throttle body but I can't source it.

Now forgive my ignorance on this engine, I have no love for this car at all & do not enjoy working on it so any advice on what to check, common causes & curses & any other info that you could provide me with on it would be greatly appreciated.

Advice on how to fix it would be nice so I could sell it on when the weather improves.

She won't drive them because they are too big.

Come on guys, I came on here because you lot are into the 206 & you were my first stop for advice since you've probably done it all. Also I hate this 206, not 206's in general, car gives me nothing but problems.

misfire could be down to coilpack or even injectors? Coilpack is normally the issue.

Cheers, I'll look into that. Is there a good supplier for parts that aren't a crazy price?

What was you quoted for a Coil Pack? New or Used?

alright people, i've rung all the places around and got the following prices:

peugeot -coil pack = £103.48

GSF - coil pack = £62.50 + VAT

Euro - Original =£73.63 + VAT

- Aftermarket = £46.84 + VAT

Just make sure you dont get a sagem one. I went for a valeo one from eurocarparts myself.

Cheers. I'll nip into the local place aswell & get a price & see if anyone around me has one so I can see if that's the fault before throwing money at it.

Now just gotta find the air leak.

Yeh if you get one from eurocarparts you can test it and return it if it doesnt fix the problem anyway. (if you cant find anyone to borrow one from)

I slagged my car off. Paid 3k for it a year & half ago, it's lost half it's value & I've had to replace brakes, calipers, rear hubs & bearings, cat, front shocks, bonnet, tre's & a driveshaft in that time & it's done 16k. I'd hate any car whatever it was that caused me this many issues.

Have you sorted it yet?? you mentioned an air leak, i would sort that first before buying too many parts as an air leak can play havoc with fuelling and can easily cause bad performance or contribute to misfires occuring
