Had my 206 in to get a new wheel bearing on Monday, all sorted ok BUT the guy tells me that the squeeking/creaking noises coming from the back of the car are a sign that my rear axle is on it way out, YAY!!!
MOT is due at the end of April, if the cost of getting it through is too much my car is going to the scrap heap. Not wasting any more money on this piece of French garbage.
Ive had this car for 2 years and in that time i have spent approx £2000+ in repairs and maintanence, ridiculous.

just get a second hand axle in the run up to your MOT now and put that on..

keep your car..

dont have to pay for retests..

and dont have to drive around with a broken car..

everyones solution is always aaah f*** it may as well just scrap it.

second hand axles are about £150, which is all youll get for your car if you scrap it

Good point well made but where do you draw the line!? Granted a second hand axle is £150 but i cant swap it myself and i cant imagine the cost of labour for that job will be cheap?
Also if the axle is second hand whos to say i wont just have the same problem 6 months down the line?

Excellent post tbh. If you know you have spent over £2000 why scrap it? Makes no sense at all.

well swap the axle, push it through its MOT and sell it then, youll get alot more than if you scrap it!

plus this forum has a wealth of highly experienced people that will gladly help you out with swapping it over for a few beer tokens, its not a massively hard job. at the end of the day its all nuts and bolts.

You make a lot of good points my friend Razz
I suppose my irritation at the whole thing is clouding my judgement, just very frustrating as it just seems to be one expense after another with this thing. Worse than any other car ive had to be honest and ive had some proper s**t heaps!!

i know exactly what you mean, my car has certainly had its fair share and more of problems!

if you hate it that much then get rid of it, i just think its a much better idea to get rid of it and make as much money from it as you can instead of getting rid and making a huge needless loss!

after all, if there's one thing we can all agree on is that more money is better than less money Very Happy

Plus all the money youve spent on getting it fixed, means that those parts shouldnt go again for another year or so (Depends on build quality)

Why buy a car which you know no history when youve got a car that you know some of the history!

Imagine if you buy a car, then 2 weeks later the head gasket goes!!

i can see its quite frustrating to have to keep repairing the car but those parts you replace will last you! i love people who buys cars repair them then sell them because they have had enough ! but the real winner is the next owner or scrap yard! your out of pocket for repairs>.

i would proceed as you mean to go on! you wont have to repair it forever just these things come along and test your patients
