Right, for the life of me cannot work out what is wrong with this 206.

Its a 1.4HDI. I brought it as accident damaged but DOES start and drive...Sent a transporter to pick it up and it is now in my workshop but DOES NOT start.

Plugged the computer into it but know ones computer/diagnostics can read anything from the ecu.

We sent the ecu to be tested, the ecu is 100% fine and working, all fuses and obvious things including relays etc.

The symptoms are:
Sidelights come on with ignition,
no indicators/hazards,
no horn,
no wipers,
no lights,
engine turns over but does not start.

We've checked and cleaned the battery to gearbox and body earths, and the two earths behind the headlights. Checked various over lives and earths.

No one I've spoke to can work this out, so I was just seeing if any one on here has experienced anything like this or could put their finger straight on it.

I've got to start using this site more! Seeing as I seem to do nothing but sell, break and fix 206's!

Check the large size manufacturers fuses one by one, both in engine bay and passenger compartment.
Use a multimeter not just by visual inspection and make sure the battery is not connected during the tests obviously.

Yea I've tested all of the fuses, in engine bay and interior.
I seem to think its gunna be something be simple but its just finding it!

Another thing I stupidly missed in the last post:

Before we noticed the over electrical problems other than the engine not starting we swapped the crank and cam sensor off another identical car which ran...
That obviously didn't make it go, so we swapped them back...
The car that DID start now won't either...I'm not worried about that because its only a breaker but still F***ing frustrating!

I'm gunna try a BSI reset tomorrow and see if that resolves anything.

Any more ideas?

Did you use a multimeter, and did you check the manufacturer's large-size fuses?

The car should be powered-down and BSI shut-down properly before any
electrical work is performed on it. You could try a BSI reset as you said.

hi mate,i had exactly the same problem when i had taken the standard stereo out my 206,when i took the stereo out it would turn over but not start, side lights came on with ignition but not full beam and would only go off when i took the key out,i had no wipers or indicators,i then decided to put the stock stereo back in an then it worked first time.not saying it will work for u or even if u have taken the stereo out but i had exactly the same probably

is learning slowly but surely Smile

Finaly got this sorted!

Don't know what caused it but I found the problem and fixed it!

First we tested the BSI, Instrument panel, indicator stalk, ecu. By taking them out of a working car. That didn't work so we then we knew it was a promlem with the loom.

After 2 full days of pulling the loom apart and reading pages and pages of wiring diagrams and testing pretty much every pin on the ecu and bsi we discovered the bsi was missing a 7volt feed from the ecu.

Tapped into another 7volt feed, hooked up to the bsi and the beut started straight up!!

(The other car that did go until we swapped the crank and cam sensor over, fired straight up after we realised someone hadn't plugged the ecu back in properly after comparing the plugs to the one we're fixing!!)
