Here is my old car which i sold to my mate but this has just started to happen to the paintwork, looks like the laquer has started to peel off. How could he get this sorted? Anyone know?

Yeah, respray the boot, thats what i'd be doing anyhow.

A full respray or just respray in laquer?
Dont think he can afford that at this moment in time

On a shoestring, suppose it could be rubbed back to the paint then re laquered, other than that there's no other "easy" or "cheap" option.

You couldn't just sand and re laquere will still be able to see it. It will need sanding smooth so you caint feel any paint edges then a coat of primer then sanded smooth again then basecoat and laquere to do it properly.

focus st 3 with pro alloy intercooler, 3" mongoose down pipe, 200 cell sports cat and mongoose cat back, collins bov, dreamscience dsci cold air intake,focus rs injectors,focus rs oil cooler,dreamscience dsci tuneing platform mod X map,focus rs clutch & flywheel, rs fuel pump, polly bushes in wish bones rear axal and suspension white line front and rear arb, eibach pro street s suspension.

you could try to flat it off with 1500 wet and dry then re-laquer it if not paint job it will have to be

Don't even think about trying to re lacquer it.
Will need prepping, base and clear.

On the other hand, he could buy a tailgate from a scrappies.

Damn was hoping it wouldnt need a respray or a new boot, ill give the sanding a try but if it dont work then hey can get another boot
