well aren't i quite the tit...

either i hadn't tightened up the 2 bolts that hold the caliper on to the front axle or they had worked loose...

to cut a long story short, on the way to shops, brakes went... pulled in, jacked up... bottom bolt was missing, and top one was VERY loose.

Tightened top bolt up, all good again, but getting replacement bolt in morning .... Thankyou for all your help though guys, i'm getting new drop links put on anyway.

Getting quite attatched to the car now that i'm having some 'hands on' with it... our lass wants to sell...but i'm quite fond of it now lol

You were lucky. I always use thread lock on caliper bolts. Some pads even come with new bolts in the box precoated with a locking agent. Better to be safe than sorry where brakes are concerned.
