My car has a whining noise when im going straight or left at over 30mph. the noise is coming from what sounds like the rear passenger wheel.. I have changed the bearing to no avail apart from its a little smoother.

A lot of 206's have brake shoes and drums on the rear (probably 1.4s and below?) , maybe check those?

My wife is 30+ and all I get is a whining noise...

Make sure all the cables and adjusters are free and pull both brake shoes evenly.

try swap your wheels front to rear, could be a tyre that is giving you the noise. what make is on that wheel ???
