That is indeed the air temp sensor, i got a new one the other day of an ebay shop for around 14quid delivered. Nice simple cheap fix it thats the case

do you think that is ehat is causing the problem, and how do you find that number as i have been looking for it on servicebox for ages and have had no luck, cheers mate

Looked on a part catalogue first then searched servicebox 
Its where all the engine management sensors are

you make it sound to easy,is it called the air temp sensor as above then as i plan to go to the local motor factors tomorow if its open and get a new one cheers

got home and me mate had a look and unplugged the sensor circled in red. With tht unplugged it ran fine, so my question is what sensor is that and will replacing the sensor hopefully fix the problem, cheers
