The left side where the date is illuminated, but the right side is dark, I can still see what time it is, but it's very hard to see
Any ideas what might be the problem? Thanks

Screw driver under the rear of the shroud, pop it off, change the bulb.
Can't remember what bulb it is, buy I made a FAQ on it if you look in that section

I replaced mine with LED ones. A fair bit brighter.

The ones I got were cheap and the holders were of a very poor quality, they didn't fit properly. However the diodes were good and I didn't have any spots. A bit of A4 paper can sort spots out though.

I had this problem with my old 206 and it wasn't the bulb, the wole unit had to be replaced but it was practically the whole of it that didn't light up unless you pressed against it. I didn't bother though, I sold it and bought my GTi.
Hopefully in your case the bulb will do the trick.
