Hey
I smashed up my GTi 180 at the weekend. The smallest part I need actually is a new wing mirror. But GTI ones keep being offered to me. Does anyone know if there's an actual difference between the 180 ones and normal GTI ones?
Thanks
Mel

Yes, the 180 ones have a carbon fibre effect cover & electrically fold.
GTi ones are just gloss black, do not fold.
Not sure if the plugs are compatible either.

Are 180 mirrors auto folding? If they are then you will lose this as GTi138's are not. Otherwise they will be fine!
(Just make sure they have the smae plug, although this can be cut off and manually re-wired, The wiring system does not matter for wing mirrors.)
Oh and the Carbon Fibre Mirror caps.

Not all of them do. Some 180 ones don't have carbon fibre. As for folding I don't need that. but obvioulsy I will need to adjust them! GTI parts are so cheap compared to 180 parts. Not fair

Auto folding means when the doors lock they fold in.. Not electically adjustable glass. All GTi138's have electrical adjustable mirrors.

£75.00 for a used one. Brand new dread to think. Don't need folding mirrors though, pointless if you ask me unless you park your car on a road regularly which I don't.

as far as i was aware you have to have keys in ignition and press the mirror button up for them to fold in!

Me. I've seen loads of 180s with just black caps (unless they have all been changed?!) I also bought a mirror when I smashed it before and it came off a 180 also did not have carbon fibre top.

Awww.. In that case. Sod them off. Just get the 138's mirrors and a gloss black mirror cap for the other side rather than the CF... OR Don't be a cheapskate and spend the extra £30 on the correct one.
