Hi, I'm new to the site and wondering if anyone can help. I have replaced the gearbox on my 206 with a tested box, not re con unit. when test drove every know and then the 4th gear didnt always select, like it was in halfway and crucnched. I phoned Ford and Peugeot Motor spares who i bought it from and they said has the linkeages been set up properly. but I can only see ball joints. Am I missing something blatently obvious or is a duffer dox. Thanks in advance
The car is a w reg, petrol, 1.4 manual GLX

You cant really get the linkages wrong. They are fixed length and if they were wrong other gears would crunch too.

it could be the linkages but you,ll have to go through all that route, but personally could be the syncro in the box,, see what others say ..

although i have to say i rarely seen a worn synchro in 4th gear; most of the time is 2nd and 5th.
i would return the box or get a recon box

Got the box back out hopefully they will exchange it. the numbers engraved on the duff box are 20cp80 and the one from the original box is 20ce89 with an engine number VF32CKFXE. I cant seem to find much on google but the 20cp80 seems to be fitted in a lot of 1.1's. I cant find an exact match on the original but quite a few 20CE, the last two digits vary. Does anyone have list of compatible gearboxes that are ok with my engine
