As the title, What do you expect to pay for a cam belt kit, assuming you dont just change the belt but fit the complete kit with idlers and tensioners, I have been checking prices and they vary so much it is hard to get a good idea, I based this on a GTi138 Gates Kit

I recall paying around £30 for a 1.6 one with idlers. Not sure if that helps.

It does as I am compiling a list of vital service components we all need. The prices seem to vary so much I thought I would see if we could regulate where we could get a quality part for the least money

I recall mine being of the make CIA or something that sounded similar.

got mine form unipart for 55 full kit was told that it was a gates kit

I'd look at buypartsby.co.uk first .... got our 1.4 HDi kit from them. A lot cheaper that sites like eurocarparts, etc. I'd also ring around our local motor factors ...
Now in the market for a 2.0 DOHC kit!

If that was a gates kit for a GTi it was cheap

know the ppl running the shop so get discount/trade prices
not 100% on the gates as its branded all over saying unipart but was assured it was

Lat time I bought a kit for the GTi is was £88. The kit for the Jetta cost £170!

EW10J ... early 2001 206CC. Got kit from buypartsby ... 53.27 + vat and delivery. ContiTech (Continental).
Now to work out how to fit it and track down the camshaft locking pins
