My mates 1.1 preplexed sometimes cuts out while driving, even on teh motorway etc which youll agree is dangerous! I have had a quick look at it but i dont really know what to look for! any help would be much appreciated! Smile

Mines does this also, scary s**t when your going round a corner and it cuts out because the power steering turns off Razz

Mine does it like every 6 months engine just cuts and steering locks, so does my cousin's 1.1

The steering wont lock unless the ignition key is removed from the barrel.

All that is happening is you are loosing the power assistance to the steering Wink

When it looses power with it still in gear and therefore the engine is turning does the rev counter drop to zero? Or does the rev counter still show the correct engine speed?

& why is he still driving a car that does this lol? Like fook would i continue driving it - tad bit dangerous if ya ask me. Can ya not have the engine checked or just drop a 2.0ltr in Wink probably solved Smile

it doesnt have one Rolling On The Floor Laughing its the most basic 206 i've ever seen!

he has no choice so he's avoiding busy roads and motorways for the time being Razz

No its not a common problem, but i guess the car is a very early model maybe a S/T reg. So after the amount of time thats past, things start failing like the fuel pump.

Has the fuel filter ever been changed?

Its a very early one yeah, i'm not sure to be honest lee, ill give him a text tomorrow and get him to find out, could well have been as it was serviced before he got it, on the other hand, its missing a few bits here and there and hasnt been too well looked after lol

ok, well it cant be down to age because my 07 plate did this today!!! not good at all but even worse when youve got a kid in the car with you!!!
206 look 1.4 grey 07 reg spoke 17 "wheels sp wheel arch extentions,lexus rear lights morette front lights, tinted front and back windows

Its still 4 years old.

The cutting out problem was fixed by Peugeot before they built your car.

When was it last serviced?
