I don't think it's chrome paint I think it's just the colour of the metal polished.

You don't need to get it off. Use a wire brush to mark it then use a decent primer and spray.

Tbh your better off selling it and buying the Zunsport ones as they are plastic coated and should resist stone chips better.

Just my opinion though Smile

if your spraying them black, might aswell sell the grills individually and use the Zunsport discount for the whole set of black brand new ones Wink

Its not chrome plate its bare stainless steel. Spray them with hammerite smooth works perfect and is resistant to stone chips. also the cheapest option

Still sand them down or just spray

Either. Probs sanding.

It just helps the paint stick.

Go with sanding, thats what i done to my lower grille. I have to take it off and respray it every 6 months or so though as it gets chipped easy. My best advice would be to sell yours and buy Zunsport ones its far easier and i have the Zunsport bonnet vent and it looks better than the lower grille.

If you want an easy route, just get a piece of scotchbrite and rub that over it. Leaves a better finish than wire brush, and is a lot easier than sanding.
