Problem 1 - Mum's 1.9d 2001 - Her remote stopping working at the weekend, so we assumed it was a dead battery in it. She bought a new battery yesterday and changed it... Still won't work. Tried resyncing the key and that didn't work either... What could it be? The sensor in the car? How much to fix, can we do it ourselves?
Problem 2 - My 2.0 HDi 2000 - Couple of weeks ago I was in the garden with my car. Had the windows down and locked it. Then forget and reached in through the window and turned the ignition on... ALARM! so i quickly unlocked the car to turn the alarm off. Then I noticed that the led alarm light on the hazard switch was flashing like crazy.
So I tried pressing and holding the alarm button near the handbrake as I normally use this to turn the inside sensors off when I set the alarm, because when I first got the car the alarm used to go off randomly and doing this stopped it. But the led didn't go solid like it should :\ So I got out of the car again deadlocked it. Waved my hand in the window to try and set it off, Didn't work, surely it should?
So now I unlocked the doors with the actual key in the lock and of course the alarm went off, so I pressed the handbrake button and it didn't turn the alarm off like it should. So I can only assume that the button is faulty and the led is flashing to let me know something's wrong... Am I right? & should I get new inside sensors if they're not detecting my hand in the window? Again... How much? Can I do it myself?
Thanks (:

Probaly cause the cars a near you, you are the problem
Seriousness though
1. Do the locks bounce? Lock then unlock?
2. You probaly turned off the sensors pressing the button, and to get rid of the flashing LED you need to just start the car up tit

No the locks don't bounce.
It still flashes when I'm driving the car! I'm not that stupid!

You said the time the alarm went off when you put your arm through the window you started the ignition. Since then you've only waved your arm in

RTFM
The transponder immobiliser chip in the ignition key switches the alarm of in case of remote fob failure NOT the button by the handbrake.
Put the key in & turn the ignition on to disarm / silence the alarm system.

Oh I didn't know that! But... Can someone tell me why the led flashes constantly even when I'm driving? It flashes faster than when the alarm is set.
And anyway... Waving my arm in the window should set it off cause if nor someone could break in through a window and it wouldn't set the alarm off!

Just a few questions.
Have you tired setting the alarm since... have you tried pressing the sensor on/off button again?

She's got two, but the other one doesn't have a remote. So it's a pain in the a**e having to do it manually!

I can say the reason that your alarm didnt go off after the solid light was showing is because you have disabled the motion sensors. The solid red light is to indicate this. As for the alarm light flashing while driving im stumped
