Hi All,
Yet again the 206 GTi is playing up.
This time on way home, From 1st turn of ignition and starting the engine, the cars revs were under 1000 and then dropped so low the car stalled, and engine stopped.
I have put it down to needing a new Idle Control Valve (ICV)? Could I be right, or perhaps its the Map sensor as well as the ICV?
So were would the ICV be located on the 206 GTI - I thought it is / should be located on the inlet manifold am I right?
Cheers,

To get to the ICV, i just took out the air filter housing and the air hose. Then the throttle body cover will lift off and leave you with the throttle body exposed. Then its just two torx bit screws to take the icv out.
That's what i did anyway.

If thecar will still run on the throttle then chances are it is the idele control valve at fault.
The idle control valve has been removed from the picture below. To get to the throttle body use a large screwdriver to undo the large jubilee clip holding the air scoop in place then pull the scoop off.

Hi all,
Yes the 206 GTi did run okay on the throttle (meaning it was okay whilst driving, no loss of revs or power) but rev counter is deff being out of kilter and am also sure it has to be the ICV. So thank you all for the info and help.
I'll take it out today and give it a clean and just maybe that might fix it!
Otherwise its time for a new one.
Cheers,

hi just wanted to ask a question, do you know or could you tell me why when idling my cars revs are bouncing ever so slightly, my cat has gone, could it be because of that? my rev counter is not moving just the engine ticking over doesnt sound right
