Well after having my car plagued with immobilser issues ( which fixed themselves) having the exhaust faull off ( welded back ) this weeks issue, Battery charge fault,

the drove fine for the last four months and the all of a sudden on the way to work, i get that fault, the car after a couple of miles started to struggle, and eventually cut out at a set of traffic lights. Anyway had the car brought home ( tow) and my dad who is a retired mechanic told me its the alternator, as it was not charging the battery, when he took off the terminal when the car was running, the car cut out.

so at the cost of £109 i had the alternator reconditioned, after six hours of work the car was given back to me and worked fine, happy days,

untill today, on the way to pick up a new lady friend for dinner, i was plauged with the same problems, only this time, when my dad checked the alternator using the " Dissconect the batter via a terminal) trick, the car kept running, apprantly this mean the alternator was fine, now im unsure, im taking the car back to the recon specialist as the work he done has a 12 moth gaurentee on parts and labour, but anybody else got a clue what it could be?

Regards

Have you recharged the battery before using it again?

yeah, the battery was fullly charged, I have two, the one that was in the car when it started showing faults was only two months old, I now am using the older one, whilst this one has not made the car cut out, the fault does show up as does the battery light on the dash. The windows tend to slow down too.

What heap of s**t battery have you bought Shocked

12 month warranty, must be a total cheap heap of s**te Rolling Eyes

Varta or Bosch for batteries everytime, you get what you pay for & top Varta / Bosch batteries come with a 5 year warranty, not that you would ever need it.

Took the car back to the recon specialist, and he ran some test and the alternator is not charging the battery. The car will be put up for sale now, as i feel this car is very high maintenace and little substance. It's a shame really because it is a beautifull car. But i have my eyes on an Rx8 now.

So your selling the car with the alternator not charging the battery still?

If you think thats high maintance wait untill the RX8 needs the specialist work doing on it.

The car is at the specialist, he is sorting it out for me, as the work has 12c month warranty, To be honest, since iv owned the car, i have not enjoyed driving it. There is something missing, i love driving, its one of my few joys. I'd rather have a high maintenace car with a bit of spirit and passion that a souless car that is high maintencace and i do not enjoy driving. Im sure many would disagree but that is just my opinion.
