Fixed !
Went out to car. Left side fine. Both stalks fine. Hazard warning worked both sides fine. Took left front bulb - the one in the headlight cluster - out as the right hand one was off when I turn on the right hand indicator stalk. The right hand side now worked perfect. So the cluster orange bulb is dud. So the fast repeating must be a warning the bulb is out.
Cheers anyway.

Pretty normal on most cars for the indicator to flash faster on the side where a bulb is out.
