This is a friend of mines car. She says her clutch "is f****d". It smells odd, and cant engage any gears. Although it will drive if 1st (or any gear) is selected before starting the engine. Any ideas? New clutch or something more serious? Its a W reg 1.4 Taa

I would guess that it needs a new clutch

Sounds like the release bearing and/or the clutch and pressure plate is knackered. New clutch time sadly.

Execellent cheers. =] Are there any guides around to removing the gearbox? I guess it needs to be removed.
