Hi,
I'd be grateful if anyone can offer up some advice. I can hear a gushing water sound in my 206 (on the left hand passenger side) when the revs go above 2K, usually in first. This happens when stationary or pulling away (usually on a hill at those revs but can also happen on a flat). Any idea what this noise could be??? It's just your bog standard 2006 verve.
Many thanks

So is it a leak somewhere then?

I got rid of the car before I checked it out. The heater matrix started leaking in the passenger footwell so check to see if its wet there.

First place to look would be your coolant level. MY old Cavalier had this, caused be a leaking gasket.

DJ, its dried out since the engine change with no signs of leakage, I dont think it was the heater matrix.

Read elsewhere it could be an airlock in tge cooling system. Does that sound possible?

Took it to a garage today, their diagnosis: the head gasket has gone!!! Whether this is the cause of the water sound or the noise is a symptomn they didnt say and as it hasnt been fixed yet i dunno if itll cure it
Thank god warranty is gunna pay for it.
My advice to anyone suffering the same: get it checked!!

Just curious, how is the sound of flowing water relevant to the head gasket?

The water is leaking into the head, causing air in the system, so as it pumps if sounds like a leak. As I first posted.
