In the last few weeks i've noticed my exhaust sounds like a 'droning' noise, but only when I come off the pedal and let it roll, could this be a hole in my exhaust pipe somewhere? or just something I haven't noticed till' lately? I haven't jacked the car up yet due to the heaven's opening for the last few days so haven't been able to check !

Hey, see if there's any fumes at all coming our from underneath the car before the tail pipe?
It could even be rubbing on a mount or something..

How long have you had the exhaust? what bore is it standard/aftermarket etc. Stick your hand over the hole at the back and listen if there is a leak you'll know!

Might want to use something else other than your hand.

Haven't got a pic but we all know what they look like. |
Being the picky sort - I really hate it when people say this. Yes we all know what it looks like - but we all want to see the condition that yours is in! | |

Well the exhaust tail-end curved down after the backbox, and the pipe got a lot thicket towards the end, it went below the bumper so I got it all cut off, then welded a 3" pipe on the back of it and lumped on a tail pipe dressing to make it look a little nicer.
I was told the backbox wasn't specificly for the 1.4 8v model, but it does sound louder than other 206's of the same model.
Sorry I can't be of much more help!

Of course depending on the temperature of the tip
Brimbo sounds like an abortion could be many things then, take it it's recent was the back box new? There tone will change with time but from what your telling me sounds normal for that sort of exhaust

No no the backbox was on before I bought the car, it past on the MOT around 3k mileage ago, with no advisories on the exhaust system, I'm guessing its aftermarket of some-sort, but I'll get an audio clip up tonight (rain providing) for you lot to see if it sounds blown at all

That looks like a standard box to me, I was playing about with the one on my mrs car and it looks the same. Hers is a 1.1 and I think they fit all 206 8v engines. I cant listen to the audio though as im at work. Sorry

It's hard to tell with the wind noise and that eggsauce trim will make it sounds different. It sounds very rattly in the video, is it like that in real life? Check the hangers maybe. If it really is a musical droning noise you're talking about then it sounds like a hole.

The exhaust has very little play on it when I move it around, even when I do it fiercly. I've never really noticed a rattling noise, but I could tell today the heatshield was slightly rattling, which i'm going to get around to
