there was an xr2 that got the same treatment here. was an absolute buet. shame it got binned.

id love to find a car i feel is worth the work. Bet it will drive like a differnt car all together. Defo gonna keep an eye out for this as it progresses.

funny you should say that, my first ever project was infact an Mk2 XR2! lol. yea, that got cubed back in 98/99 after a seriously nasty smash into a concrete bridge wall! (i was proper p**sed off at my mate after all my hard work!).

Last project was a Ford Orion 1.8 Ghia, red, lovely thing, RS bodykit, TSW venoms etc etc. back when modifying was actually pretty damn hard! lol.

I've already had a blast with the interior out (cept dash and front seats) and even then it was a totally different animal lol (and i knew the car inside out being my daily drive for 2yrs).

Time and Funds are a bit thin atm, hench the FS thread, but i'll be doing little bits every now and then.

todays progress?

as well as the antiroll/sway bar which for some reason i didnt picture! lol

time for a wee update i spose!

Well, the rear beam had to be taken apart to get the old knackered bushes out, which were completely rusted away inside (BIG hole in one) so replaced those. also added the supplement washers that stiffin up the bushes. big difference!

at the same time i discovered that the needle roller bearings were knackered too. i spose i shouldnt expect any less from a 12yr old motor! lol. those are to be replaced soon using the kits.

I've stripped and repainted the lower arms. as well as uprated the middle bushes with SuperPro poly bushes. they are the single offset type.

Front ARB painted and bushes also uprated. again SuperPro.

i bought a load of parts to completely rework the braking system. decided not to use the ABS and change from a single brake servo to two willwood master cylinders with a bias bar and remote dash adjuster . This meant having to use seperate fluid pots, so 3 of those with brackets please! 3/8" copper nickel piping all new pipe unions, plus a whole host of misc bolts, clips etc etc.

I also got to use the new clutch cylinder (pedal one!) that i bought 2yrs ago and never fitted! lol.

already had a steering boss, courtesy of Gav, so did that just by getting a 350mm, 3" dish black suede rally wheel (with push button horn). shexy! lol.

I've also rebuilt and refitted the subframe, lower arms, steering rack assembly.

Finally, i've done a rough paint job (with brushes) on the body. pictures dont do it justice tbh. will be much nicer when its redone with rollers.
