Before I fit my 138 gti engine, I want to run it with no aircon. I plan to remove everything bar the pump. Will the climate control work ok if I do this? My gti at the moment has no gas so it doesnt work anyway. And its £70 to get it re-gassed by me.

I think if you have the pump there is should be ok, I know when the auxilary belt went on my GTi the climate control wouldnt work at all, the display didnt even come on.

You want to remove it permanently? I've taken mine out, everything including condensor and pump. I use a shorter belt and everything still works.

Have a trawl through my project topic. It has a picture in there of the belt with the part number on it.

I took all the wiring out of mine too.

Yes it works the same as before. Only difference is switching the A/C on makes it no cooler.

Does yours still default to a/c when you start the engine? I dont know why but with no belt mine wouldn't work at all.
