Unplug and unscrew. They can be a pain when they're seized and you don't have a lift.

I have a spare GTi cat sensor.

mine took a fair bit of effort to get out and had to get the thread re-tapped. also (not sure if this is the case for all 206s but it was for me 1.4lx) there are 2 different sensors, one just on top of your manifold and one underneath part of the way down the exhaust pipe
when taking it for the MOT they said they had no way of knowing which one it would be that had a fault, fortunately it was the first one, the easy one to get to. I'm presuming it was from me being foolish and having some ratty little universal cone air filter on my car for a while. Nevertheless it'd probably be worth getting one first and seeing if it's that and if not getting the other one, I got quoted 150 quid for both of them, fortunately found the first one on ebay for around 25 quid, unless I'm mistaken the 2nd ones are a little harder to come across, not sure if that's the one CD is offering??

Black 1.4 lx, you can only tell when it's moving....

Sounds like a total muppet filled garage if they cant diagnose a simple fault.
An MOT garage will also have a gas analyzer, if they couldn't tell which lambda was faulty with that then I wouldn't trust them to change a bulb let alone work on a car.
