Hi there, yes I am a newbie and i have a problem.

On my 2001 GTi, i have noticed there is a front end knock, noticable when going over potholes, or speedbumps, but on the flat stuff, the car is fine.

I have reckoned to have a look to try and get to the bottom of this, but i cannot seem to find what this is. does anyone have an idea?

Any ideas are welcome.
Many thanks.

Your welcome it's a fairly common service part to be replaced, I think there about £25 from pug but will be cheaper from motor factors I would have thought Smile

most likely the bottom arm (wishbone). i've had 4 go now and it always causes a knocking over bumpy surfaces... get someone to have a look at it, it will be obvious if its up on a ramp and a mechanic can look around

I actually work for a Pug Main Stealer myself, so with my discount, would it still be cheaper from a motor factors or gen from peugeot?

I shall also have a look at the bottom arms. When Ive had a moment to look over them, I shall come back with the result.

£30.79 for a drop link from peugeot vs £17.10 for a lemforder drop link from eurocarparts. So depends how much discount you get through work.

it will be easy to check my son checked mine.
The first sign will be the broken rubber covers on the ball joints, give thyen a tap and then check all.
You will have a different sound.
Also it could be the wishbones.
I thought it was my wishbones.
But found it to be the drop links.
Well what the heck, it is all done now.

And there's 25% off all web orders from eurocarparts at the moment. Lemforder is good stuff, even the europarts own brand is ok quality.

check the droplinks 1st consider they are usually causing the problem and much more cheaper to deal with 1st compare to wishbones.
