So ive got a 2001 1.4 8v just hit 99thousand miles there at the weekend but was driving home last nite down the motor way and every time i took my foot off the accelerator i cud hear a very loud ticking from the enigne didnt happen when i had my foot on the accelarator. Didnt think anything of it last nite. then this morning it was still doin it. any ideas?

Does it do it at any speed? In gear/ out gear? Clutch in/ out etc?
could be a gearbox fault,

didnt do it when i was in first but did when the rest of the gears, stopped when the clutch was in. and when it was out of gear.
