Got MOT booked for next Wednesday. Just been out and discovered my main beam won't stay on, and indicators only flash 3 or 4 times before they cancel. I'm guessing its the stalk - anyone confirm please?

Had one of these go on my previous car (Astra) and it was an easy fix, but probably won't be able to get one in time for Wednesday Rolling Eyes

Can't I just buy the stalk unit then? Wipers and radio controller on the other stalks seem OK, so assume its just the one side that gone - the one that gets the most use when you think about it.

Lots on ebay but I need one that does the front fogs, and most seem to be rear fogs only.

Thanks!

Bummer - thats next week's overtime gone already then!

Are they a DIY fit? I assume steering wheel has to come off? Do I need the exact right one for the car (ie 2.0HDi), or will other models fit?

Yeah steering wheel and airbag off. Pretty straight forward, probably a guide on here somewhere.

Needs to have the same or more functions than your current one.

EDIT: Good time to upgrade to a trip function one if you don't already have one.

2nd hand com unit is a waste of time & money.

Service exchange OR new unit only.

Who said anything about second hand?

Infact, problem hasn't shown itself again since Friday's incident, so keeping fingers crossed it will behave for the MOT on Wednesday and buy me a bit more time to shop around!

Thanks as usual for all the great replies and advice Smile

I had exactly the same symptoms as you. Mine was intermittent for a while then totally died only to be discovered at the MOT. A small Euro-Millions win I had got spent getting the COM 2000 unit replaced. Hopefully yours will last til the MOT but better to change the unit anyway.
