i have told him to join. i have a 1.9d so alot more work to put gti in as petrol engine. i would have 2.0hdi.

even if you were to bung another engine into this car, how is that going to solve all the pretty minor faults.you may end up with more pain.oh sorry i mean your "mate".  just jesting.

It would be fairly easy i 'think'
Best bet would be to get a gti complete interior and exterior loom with the engine/ecu (if the engine loom doesnt match up just replace the whole loom)
The anti roll bar and hubs would need to be changed too
