The throttle responce on my 180 was always quicker that my mates 138 and my other mates GT, so something is a miss.
Have you cleaned the air filter out?
Try giving it a full service, failing that get a code reader on it.
Its sounds very similar to when my VVT solenoid wasnt working.

it does sound weird but if it's in your head then you'll think its un-responsive. you need to try and clear it from your mind and it'll seem fine. sounds stupid but the mind can play awful tricks on you when it comes to these sort of things |
Yeah I know what you mean, as said I haven't fallen out of love with it yet, so I won't be selling it in anger! Haha

I've given the filter a clean yeah. To be fair I haven't serviced it for a while, that'll be the next step.
I was expecting a massive improvement when I replaced the VVT, but I only felt a slight improvement.
This all might just be in my head. I guess just because the GTi 180 is more powerful than the GTi 138, doesn't mean it's going to be quicker off the line, right?
When I drove my friend's GTi 138 hard, yeah it's got a sharper response, but it hasn't got the same pull and power in the higher revs as my 180

You should be able to get it off the line quicker or at least the same, I found you had to apply more revs to the 180 though before bringing the clutch up BUT this is how you kill the clutch/release bearing.
