hi all, just a question about brake bleeding, ive bled all four corners today and the engine isnt on there is pressure in the brake pedal but as soon as i turn the ignition on the pressure goes and pedal will travel to the floor virtually, could this be faulty servo or would the abs unit need bleeding ? its a 52 plate 206 gti, any help appreciated.

It's natural for the brake pedal to get hard if you pump it with the ignition off.

Because the auxilleries and stuff are working.
It's like you turning the steering wheel with the engine vs it been off

What did you use to bleed it? Spare tyre and pipe? because you shouldn't get air in

I've read ABS is difficult to bleed.

get the easybleed on and with the ignition in second possition just before start. you do this so the abs system is working. two people may be needed for this. start at the furthest from the master cylinder, get a mate to pump the bedal while you crack off the bleed nipple on the nsr pump maybe 10 times . lock off the nipple check the fluid in the master then move to osr, and so on. be carefull on the fluid level because with the abs pump working it will send more fluid through the pipes

The ABS system WON'T be working unless one of the wheel speed sensor's triggers the ABS system in to action.
You only really need Planet on ESP equipped 206's

Did you reduce the air pressure in the spare tyre down to around 15 psi before attaching the Eezibleed kit?
Using to high an air pressure will ruin the seal's in the brake master cylinder.

well have bled the system twice today had 2 litres of dot 4 run through it with no air bubbles left in any pipes but still have a really spongey pedal with lots of travel, checked pipe work from inlet to servo and no leaks found, i have bled brakes on many cars before but this has got me puzzled anyone experienced something similar ?
