While driving to work today, i was doing around 70 on the A1 happily then all of a sudden my speed starts falling, i try changing gear and flooring it but while changing increased the revs briefly the accelerator did nothing, so kept slowing down.
So pulled onto the grass verge, then just before i finally stopped all the red and orange lights came on. So switched it off, then started the car back up again, which it started fine, but the engine light was flashing, so turned it off again and called green flag
While waiting for them to come i had my hazards on and my lights on and after an hour or so they went dead as the battery had gone flat
Eventually when green flag got to me, he tried starting it up but because battery was flat it wouldnt go, so connect up jump leads and tried again and no change. So he tried all the injectors and they seemed to be ok, then checked the spark plugs and said none of them were going so had to be taken to my local garage.

Now just heard back from the garage and they say they have no idea why it wont start, they;ve checked all the engine codes that have been thrown up and its about mis-fires etc which they say doesnt really explain why it wont start up. Their only suggestion was that it could be the crank sensor, which they're gona change tomorrow

I dont suppose this has happened to anyone here before? or have any suggestion as to what it might be? or whether you think changing the sensor could fix it? Just a bit worried they have no idea so dont want to keep throwing money at it

Btw its a Y reg 1.1 petrol 206

If they have no idea, don't let them change parts in an effort to guess correctly at which part is faulty! Unless of course, they accept that if they're wrong they won't charge you for the part or the labour in fitting it, and retain your old one for re-fitment.

If you want the forum to help out with technical suggestions, then you'll need to let us know the fault codes which were logged (and possibly now erased by the garage). Otherwise, I can only make a general suggestion to get it to a garage who can properly test sensors and check other stuff, so they know what the fault is and can then fix it in one go, rather than repeatedly guessing etc. Even with the extra time spent in transporting the car to another garage, it will probably be fixed quicker anyway.

If the engines just turning over quite freely and there's no spark then it could be a number of things like the crank sensor, could also be a cam sensor issue. Or it could even be something like the timeing having jumped a tooth.

Shut it u stupid little f**k, what's the point in posting in all my treads being such a c***? Least I can afford a gti180, and to get the cam belt done!

So apparently everyone knows my financial situation? If I wanted a 180 I would have bought a 180 simples Smile
