Good Morning to all. I want your advise about my 2004 206 2.0 16s peugeot:
About 1 month ago, it started having this "pollution problem" message on the center console and it would not turn off turning the key off, I had to put on 1st gear and let the clutch pedal out (braked in) in order to turn the engine off. This happened like two or three times and then the message and problem went away by itself.
About one week ago, the car is very idle erratic when cold (first start in the morning or after sitting for about two hours). If I push the throtle pedal in the revs go down and take 1 sec or 2 to rev up, some times it cuts out if I press too fast. It takes about 10 minutes to be at least driveable, and even then it takes like 1 second to respond when pressing the throtle pedal in after gear shifting
I put the Peugeot Plannet 2000 and it gave me:
ENGINE ECU:
a) Interminent fault. Downstream oxygen sensor. Short circuit to earth
b) Interminent fault. Mis.fires on more than one cilindre or on an undetermined cylinder
I checked the parameters:
When Idle (and cold):
Engine Speed: 750 rpm
Battery Voltage: 13.90 v
upstream oxygen sensor voltage: 488 mV (it goes to 900 mV when rev up)
downstream oxygen sensor voltage:39 mV (it goes to 230 mV when rev up)
richnesss regulation status: ----
I was looking for the 02 sensor but before buying it I thought it woul be worthy to try cheaper solutions, like cleaning spark plugs (I already did and no change), change the Coolant Temp Sensor, etc
What do you think?

well for the first problem:you have to check the downstream oxygen sensor plug, because there is a short in earthing connection which makes it not working,so try to clean the plug with electronic cleaner.or DW40
And for the second fault,it seems that you have the wrong spark plugs fitted or a NGK plugs which are so bad with pugs
OR maybe your car had a wrong spark plugs before you buy it,which made the coil pack goes faulty.
So try to change the spark plugs set.

I changed the Engine Coolant Temperature with a new one, no change.
Ichanged the spark plugs with a new Bosh set and improved a little, now stays fine at iddle and it revs down to 400 or less when I press the pedal to rev up to 2000, when it comes down it stays at 700 but gos two or three times to 400 or less, it is still anoying
The mechanic took it away few minutes ago to try some other things, Ill keep you informed and I wish he can find the fault, at this time I have no chance to play around, I wish I had

Peugeot changed the hydraulic tappets for the EW 10 lump in April 2003 so your engine should already be fitted with the correct / non problematic hydraulic tappets.
