my hand brake is pretty s**t at the mo. the pads are about 2years old so going get new ones but is it a easy job to do. the car rear drums and is a 51plate 1.9d non-abs.

they are a pain to get back into the drum but its all pretty easy, just fiddly!!

Done sooo many over the years.. Peugeots are so easy its unreal changed the 206's shoes on a caravan site in cornwall 300miles away from home with a 32mm socket and a bread knife all i had to hand.

yes one of the easiest jobs you can do,some guys on this site think £400 is a good price for sorting rear drum brakes.i would love to do them all day long for that sort of coin.

Can I suggest you re-read the original post before shooting off at the mouth again, The guy had his rear shoes break up which locked his back wheels, He managed to get Halfords to do it in their car park, On inspection it was found his rear cylinders were leaking, rear bearings shot and during the bleeding process they found his LSV was siezed. Now in normal land, we would WD40 it, but in the real world where things have to be done correctly, they replaced it. If you want to re-think your comment about him being ripped off you will find its not so bad after all. If, however you still insist on it being unfair then I suggest you keep your comments to yourself and save the poor guy any further embaressment. From my part, I eat little boys like you for dinner..... Rant over

wow you are in a bit of a mood over my comments on the price of this job,all the parts you mention cost peanuts and are as you well know a piece of to fit while you have the drums off anyway.as for replacing parts instead of a shot of oil, well suppose its your game and you have to defend rip off pricing but to say it was an ok price is a joke.as for eating for breakfast ill put that down to immaturity.

Hi guys, i am changing the shoes soon, my local parts shop say there are 2 types of back shoes lucas and bandix.

Is there a way to find out which type i need before i take the wheel off?

Typing your cars VIN number in to Peugeot Service Box will tell you what type of brakes it rolled of the production line with Wink

the one thing i'll mention is when putting your drum back on grind out the lip the old shoes have left as it will go on so much easier then.

plus! get a new set of securing pins/springs/clips as they can bend the metal in the clip leading to the shoes letting go and jamming your drum on, which is a horrible job to sort out afterwards!
