Hi all
As in title, I've just changed the clutch in my gf's '00 206 1.1 preplex but after getting everything back together I tried to start car & it won't turn over at all. Battery has plenty charge, dash lights come on as normal but when turning key there is nothing - not even a click from the starter solenoid.
I'm wondering whether I've misconnected an earth strap or starter connector (too dark to check just now) but my other worry is that the key got washed last week - could this have killed the transponder? Car still 'beeps' when you open door with key left in ignition, so would that mean its ok? Really hoping its just something stupid I've forgot to connect. Cant try a bump start as wheels/suspension arent yet back on (fitting new discs & pads while im on).
Thanks in advance

206 immobiliser doesnt cut the starter circuit, your key sounds fine.

Thanks, thats what I was hoping. Assume there mustnt be a good enough earth somewhere, iirc there were only 2 wires I actually disconnected, 1 was the heavy lead between battery / gearbox / inner wing, the other was a green wire with a terminal on 1 end that was on another bolt at the gearbox.
I guess after rechecking these if still no go I'll have to get the multumeter out & check the wires to the starter.

Did you disconnect the battery before taking the wires off the starter motor?

Try this
Turn the ignition on
Take a wire from the live side of the battery to the starter solenoid. Basicly hot wire it
See if it starts
Or take starter off and put some power to it, see if it works, be very quick as it will spin into space. You just want to check it spins and the solenoid is working.

Macca - yeah the battery was off before i disconnected the starter (only took the small wire off tho & left starter hanging out of the way)
CrazyDavid I think thats gonna be my next thing to check tomorrow when its daylight again, yeah Ive tested starters before & they dont have generate some force when they spin (especially if youre holding it lol)

As stated in edited title...
It was a bad earth, either the heavy black battery one that connects to the inner wing and the gearbox mount or the single green wire (on my car anyway) that is connected to the gearbox.
