Hi,

I own a 2001 1.1l 206 style, When i start up the car the rev counter gives a reading of 50,000 rpm, the engine is absolutely fine and has no bearing on the performance, its more of an annoyance more than anything. Is there any quick fix to alter the needle back to its rightful position?

Thank you

50,000! Did you mean 5000 ... Wink

Does it drop to the right reading after? In which case, it isn't the needle but the gauge. And could be if it stays high anyway.

Down to just the 1.4 HDi. Cayman Green 2.0i CC sold.

Sorry 5000! :D. Basically the reading moves clockwise as normal, as if it is in the right position to start off with.

How would I go about fixing that Gaz?

I had to take the cluster out recently for a speedo issue. You can take it out easily and then take the plastic cover off.

Then you just move the dial to the correct place. As I had to change the speedo to the correct place I did the same with the rev, fuel and temp and it it very easy. Obviously this is assuming there is nothing else wrong.

You can change the needle while the car is on the the correct level but it does take a few attempts. I would find out what it should be on when idle and then move it to about this. If that does not work the motor for the needle could have gone and you may need to replace this.
