Afternoon all,

My 206 GTI 180 has just decided to bring up the dreaded 'antipolution fault'.

Its been running ok but sometimes seems a little slugish when you put your foot down before the power really comes in.

Also if you pull up at a junction it sometimes revs at about 1200 rpm before settling down to it usual 800 rpm.

If anyone has had a similar problem with there's I would be very gratefull for some help of any kind.

Cheers.

unplug your VVt solenoid then plug it back in, sorted mine.

Or it could be a Lambda sensor on the exhaust but my first suggetsion wont cost you anything Laughing

If you take the engine cover off, and look towards the back lefthand side of the engine, you will see some wiring going to the solenoid, just unplug it.

The VVT solenoid is what controls the variable Valve timing, so it will run like crap when it doesnt work.

Where abouts in sheff are you from?

Cheers lads.

I will fish the spanners out tonight and have a fiddle around with it.

Are these are a comon fault then?

And ive been reading a few older posts and am I right in thinking that the ecu fault will need to be cleared from the car for it to run properly again?

Iam in Crooks. Do you fancy fixing it then?
Ive got an annouying bloody squeek coming from the dash somewhere too. Its going to drive me bloody nuts if I dont find it and cure it soon.

If it is the VVT solenoid the fault code should clear its self, i was thinking i could help you if we met up but its a really simple task and doesnt need 2 people really.

the fault will always be stored even if the vvt is replace it would come up as pending fault insted of stored

when the vvt is a fault it loses all power its like driving a 1.1! when mine was at fault it woulnt idle because it snaped in 2 pieces so i un[luged it and run sweet but realy realy slow

It will stay as a fault logged on the ECU but the light on the dash will disapear.

I'll clear the code for £20, and I'll meet you in town somewhere.

Clean the VVT solenoid with carb cleaner while it's out. It's a 5 minute job.

It may also be a sensor in the exhaust bringing up the antipolllution fault.
