i always through they are developed by PSA. but someone told me they are actually developed by lotus?

Lotus involvement if true doesn't mean anything special.

Thats wrong. Only GTI180 cylinder head is developed over EW12 VVT head by Mecachrome (Formula 1 engine company).

I also heard the cylinder head design was by mecachrome.

Apart from this I thought it was all developed by Peugeot Sport.

No Peugeot sport couldnt do it.

The way I head it was that Peugeot could not get the claimed 180bhp from gti engine. They kept blowing up.

They gave the whole engine and asked for lotus to give the car 180hp. They changed the bottom end design, bigger valves and added the VVT system from their Toyota owners.

They also fitted a equal length / balance exhaust and air intake. Giving the around 180 bhp.

206 180 rally car in progress. I may not be perfect but there are parts of me that are f£%$ing brilliant

Thats all those years of F1 experience showing again.

Was pretty funny trying to guess which lap a McLaren Peugeot would blow up back in 94 Laughing

Toyota never owned lotus. Proton do.
They just have an engine supply deal with toyota.

This 206 IS going on a trackday despite it's every effort to stay at home in the garage!

It is 177bhp and it was called the GTi180 to rival the Clio 172 Wink
