Had the gti since May and been doing it up slowly noticed every now and then sitting at 70mph or just over it bring up the engine light thought since the exhaust was Blowing it would be solved getting it sorted but still comes on
car recently went for mot and failed on fast idle emission change the plug and put a system cleaner though still nothing and car then got a coil pack as car got scanned and showed a misfire and seemed to tick over at 700 rpm car feels better when driving but light still comes on
I am told the previous own replaced the cat for a new one but a cheaper none approved one and my age car was the year you need a approved cat for sensors etc to pick up the right emissions it's a X reg car but classed as a 2001
Has anyone ever had this problem as its annoying me now and car soon to run out of mot and have to be taken off the road which I could do.without
