Unplug the cable from the speed sensor on the gearbox...could this effect the ABS and airbags potentially too?

A lot of newer 206's dont have a gearbox speed sensor to unplug as the speedo & mileometer run of the ABS system.

My 03 plate car doesnt have a gearbox speed sensor.

If they get really suspicious or you have an accident, you do know the ACTUAL mileage is held in the ECU and cannot be reset?

So then you get lots of interesting questions about why your speedo and ECU don't match ...

Needless to say, they won't pay up! And might even report you to DVLA/Police for "clocking" ...

Down to just the 1.4 HDi. Cayman Green 2.0i CC sold.

I'm assuming you are with a company like insure the box. In which case the mileage they record is taken from a gps transceiver not the car. When they fit their box they note down the mileage of your car there and then. The gps box are very accurate and give them precise details of mileage, speed and other factors like braking and accelerating. As far as I know there is no way to deceive these boxes so changing the mileage of your car won't make a spot of difference. If your insurance is limited mileage without a box trying to change the mileage of the car to deceive or fraud your insurance company would invalidate it as well as being a criminal offence. You might not be happy your insurance company have " Stiched" you up as you put it but I would suggest you think before you end up making things even worse for yourself.

This suggests that there are two sensors to record the mileage, one that feeds the dash and one that feeds the ECU.

He's talking s**te. There's one that logs it in the BSI and dash on a 'plexed car. Only mileage recorded in the ECU is service data.

people are quite easy to forget things.

plexed 206 = bsi+dash

pre-plexed= dash only;

ecu doesn't involved in either case.
