Hi,

Just been pulled over by the Police :S

(I was unaware as I had just picked the car up from the dealer)

Turns out, that when I have my Sidelights on and Brake the lights on the drivers side (brake and sidelight) go out.

When the sidelights are off and I brake, All the 3 brake lights work.

The passenger light works as it should.

Any Ideas what is causing this?

Its a 206CC pre-plexed with Lexus rear lights (apparently from standard SP kit)

I don't want to take it back to the dealer as it has taken him 2 weeks (yes 2 weeks!) to get this car ready for collection.

He said he fitted a new rear light control module, but I have looked up about these, and they don't seem to exist!

Even though nothing has been done to get it ready at all.
No Valet, No P/S fluid at all, no antifreeze/coolant just water filled to the brim of the expansion tank and a wheel bearing failing. Oh and it leaks a little as well because the drivers door doesn't allign properly so it whistles in the wind!

But, I don't really want to take it back as it is going to take him SO long to repair it all. And I can't afford to run a courtosey car for however long it takes!

If you have just got the car, take it back to the dealer to sort. Obviously the car wasn't in a roadworthy condition at time of sale, so they have to put the defects right for you.
Ask for a courtesy car while he carries out the repairs, he will soon get a move on if he has to provide you with another car.

I can see what you are saying about taking it back...

You just have no idea how long it takes for him to do any work, if he provides a courtosy car or not!

Last time I had work done, a 3 Hour Job took 3 Days!
It wouldn't be so bad if he kept in touch, but he doesn't. I have to call him constantly... He tells me stuff has been done, I go over there and it hasn't! I can't afford to do 20 mile round trips in a car that isn't mine every day until the work is done, and I need the car. I can't just reject it

I had problem with my front lights going on when i press the brake, all i did was swap my bulbs of my lexus lights brake light bulb with a two connector point at point, when i originally had single connector point.
If that makes any sense, and everything was fine.

I know it's annoying not driving YOUR car, but take it back and make him fix it (and everything else that should have been done). If he's providing a courtesy car that's not your brakes, tyres, exhaust that is getting worn out. And when it comes down to it it is just a lump of metal (did I just say that :-o).

I'm sorry, but if this guy took 3 days to do 3 hours work the last time you left your car in to him and you know he lies to you about stuff, then why the f**k did you go to him again?!

Thanks for the comment. The car was at a good price. Even better price now I have had a bit of cash back after a rant, plus a pair of Morrette Headlights!

Thanks everyone for the helpful coments, but I have returned the car today and the garage are dealing with it.

Was given a 206 GTi Hatch as a courtesy car. I must say, I do prefer the ride and drive in the CC but my partner prefers the GTi.
But now we have been lent a 156 Sportwagon Selespeed... Very nice.

Should be getting the CC back tomorrow
