Hello, I have a 206 gti 180 that as developed a bit of a fault. When the car is stone cold it runs 100% perfect with no problems at all for about half an hour, after that the engine check light comes on and it says "Anti-Pollution Fault" it then immediately loses about 50% power and the the exhaust note sounds completely different, its louder and it splutters but it will still rev to the limiter. If i let the car go stone cold again it will be fine for another half an hour

Here is the video of it spluttering its normally worse than this:

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds like its going in to limp mode, you need to get the codes read as the Anti-Pollution Fault could be anything.

It comes up for most things so best get codes read

Would a o2 or temp sensor make it go into limp? it was using loads of fuel before it happened.

Im going to get it booked in tomorrow. What would you say was a fair price for them to read the codes?

Could be the o2 sensor as its using more fuel.

As for the codes read I would say about half hour to a hours labour depending on where you go

As said, could be something simple like dodgy plugs.

I had the same problem on my GTi 136, it ran on three cylinders. Usually it went back to normal after restarting the engine. The engine light stayed on though until the next morning. It was the valve cover gasket that leaked, and the fourth cylinder misfired..

Ok so i changed the spark plugs this morning (yes they were NGK lol) Now Bosch, all was well for about half an hour then beep, beep, beep engine light back on and it starts spluttering again. The exhaust system is not blowing it sounds nothing like that when its running properly.
I did notice when i was changing the plugs that my coilpack has small cracks around two of the coils:

Could this be the early signs of a failing coil pack? could damp be getting inside turning to droplets when the pack heats up? Its the sagem type coil pack when it goes will it take the ECU with it?

cheers
