I've fitted LED bulbs to replace the standard blubs (after them blowing) and ever since the bulbs are always on. Become brighter when I go into reverse otherwise are quite bright.

Do anyone know what could be causing this and how can I go about resolving it..?

You need to fit a resistor or change the wiring to incorporate a relay.

You could either put one after the switch or use two and put one for each bulbs.

Easiest thing would be to fit a resistor in-line with each bulb.

Sorry about all the questions bud, but how can I go about fitting a resistor inline with each bolt and what size resistor do I need..?

or any more info on fitting the relay after the switch i.e. what relay etc. Just want an easy fix, or I will just have to fit normal bulbs back in.

You want some like these - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-W...3f074596aa

Cut the wire then put one in the middle.

Based that on the average LED being 20-25 milliamps and the 16 being wired in parallel

What wire do I install these into..? How many do I need..? Where do about do they need to go.

If I can pick some up from Maplins tomorrow/thursday I'll probably get them done.

Again sorry about all the question. Gunna have to do it myself and if I've got as much information about what I need and what I need to do, I'll be able to do it without a problem and not have to fork out an arm and a leg to sort it out by some auto electrician.

If you dont want to wire in a resistor (which will work) then you can purchase LED bulbs that already have a resistor wired into them.

Their purpose is to stop "bulb blown" messages on newer cars when LED's are used, but they will work perfectly for what you want. (the higher resistance level stops the light illuminating when you are not in reverse).

They are called "no canbus error led's" or something similar. Search on ebay Razz

Please Dont take any of my posts as written fact. They are simply my opinion and although to the best of my knowledge true, the information within them may well be incorrect.

Any work you undertake as a result of my posts is done so at your own risk Smile

Thanks for the diagram and appreciate the help Lee.

Do I wire a resistor into each the positive and negative of the reversing wiring and can I wire them into the wiring that is on the rear lights themselves..? i.e chop the wiring and solder the resistor half way between the light plug and bulb holder..?

Also will I be ok to drive around with the reverse lights the way they are atm..?

Just the positive mate. All the bulbs share the same negative.

Yeah cut the wire between the plug and bulb and put it in there.

If they aren't too bright you should be ok

Just fit some standard bulbs in there, cant see the point in led bulbs, even less point when you end up messing around like this trying to get them to work correctly Rolling Eyes

He is right. I bought some much better than those (SMD) and they are crap. I only bought them as I wanted them to be brighter but I put one in to test and I can't see anything with them. Going to put a proper bulb back in.
