Hi All,
Just tried to start my 206 and the engine barely turns over its like the battery is flat. I hooked up the mrs's car with jump leads but its still doing the same! It just wont start!
I've been looking on here abpout the earth strap from gearbox to the bodywork. Is there a way I can check by connecting a jump lead from the engine block to the bodywork myself to see if this is the probably?

All sugestions will be greatly received.

Many thanks

Tried bumping it?

Put a wire from -ve to chassis to rule out the earth

Test battery voltage or put your lasses battery on your car to rule out a dead cell

Not if it's just a loose connection. Earth goes to the gearbox and or chassis

what ever you do, don't touch the throttle when you try and start it. because the idle control value will think that's its normal place when the car is running and you will find the car cutting out every minute.

Update - I checked the earth cables and they seemed in good condition. So went to Halfords today and got a new battery and that has sorted it! I probably should of did that first lol!!!
It just seemed odd that the battery just went like that, the day before it was fine Confused

Thanks everybody for all your help Smile

It only takes 1 cell to fail, even slightly, then the battery is buggered.

Modern batterys do just fail, its not like the old days where you got plenty of warning.

1 day they can be fine, the next its scrap.
