Hey!
I got my car a week ago and when i got it the oil light was on, so i checked the oil and it was fine, when i was driving back from picking it up it just went off.
When I got home it came back on again with the handbrake light and the STOP light aswell. Does anyone know why it's done this? Is it something to do with the electrics?

Brake fluid or low brake pads most likely. What make you say eletrics?

Because when i went to go pick it up, i went with my uncle who's a mechanic and he said its probably a faulty switch, i'm taking it in for a service soon but just wondered if i could sort it out myself beforehand. The sunroof worked fine when i got it as well but now it's temperamental. Only opens up a little.

The oil light doesn't pick up the oil level, it's an oil pressure warning light. This could be caused by low oil level, faulty oil pump or a blockage/leak.
The handbrake light could just be the brake fluid level, or may be the switch on the handbrake.
Get the codes read to see if anything is recorded, that may narrow down the problems.
A few more details about the car ie year and engine can help people give you a possible cause. It might just be something as simple as a bug in the BSI.

You would have thought so DJ, but it becomes obvious how many people don't do weekly checks on their vehicles. Is it any wonder that some people have so many problems.
Seems to be the modern attitude of why should I do it when someone else will do it for me. I have 2 teenagers at home and that is how they seem to want to live. Good luck to them when they hit the real world of paying bills and trying to keep a roof over their heads.
