Hi this is my first post and seems like good forum.
We have just Been given a 52 reg 206 1.4hdi it seems
All perfect, not using oil, smoking to much ect but
The engine has a tappety, ticking noise that increases
With revs, it sounds like is coming from top of engine, the
Engine shakes a lot as well not sure if this is normal though.
Thank for any help and reading post
Kris

Most likely the Tappets/lifters need adjusting.

Diesel engines inherently make that tapperty sound, its normal. As for the engine shaking, thats pretty normal too. I wouldn't worry about it unless it you can feel the vibration when your in the car.

Oh right, if its that noisey then maybe the hydraulic tappets are being starved of oil or are sticking. Check the oil level and maybe even change whats left. I had a similar issue with hyd tappets on my Alfa a few years ago when the oil level got really low.

Buy a good engine flush formula like Forte....... add it to your existing oil and run up to temperature on fast idle, drain the oil and refill with new filter and good quality oil....... should sort it out

Didnt think engine flush was good idea but I'll give it ago, any chance it could
Be anything to do with pulley as it sounds similar to that. I'll take video
And post it tomorrow, might be more helpful
Thanks so far though
