I'm not 100% sure this will be the right section, but i'll give it a go
My little 206 is in need of some love, now i'm not go to go crazy like some of you do so i'm going to keep it nice and simple and work through a few things, the idea is not to spend any money on it but i like things to be perfect so budget motoring goes out of the window
Anyway, the car seems to be running a little rich, i've changed the thermostat and it now sits at a better temp and actually gets above 70 deg, i'm going to change the coolant sensor for what they cost as i believe it is a common issue and i think I might change the coolant. It has been done within the last 9 months when the headgasket was replaced but i guess its me being fussy.
There is a small leak on the exhaust as there is some black soot around the joint, this is where the pipework joins what i assume is the CAT pipework, its around the gearstick area. On the 206 are these metal to metal with some exhaust paste or is there a seal between the two ? If its a seal i'll get one first rather than taking it to bits and finding out later
Next 02 sensors, are they prone to failing on the 206 ? this will be my next point for the running rich, the car ticks over fine, no missing or anything i'm going to change the plugs too. Is the 206 fussy about the oxy sensor or is any £30 one fine ?
Are there any other issues to look out for ? the car seems nice but just wants a little bit extra, oh and possible a door strap since it clicks
The other question P2 lights, are they worth upgrading too on a P1 car (1.4LX) and are they easy to do ?
Cheers
Steve

Spark plugs = DON'T fit NGK to a 206!
Bosch plugs are a must.
O2 sensors rarely fail.
Phase 2 lights are simple plug & play, 1 x plastic wing nut is all that holds a rear lamp cluster in.
Change the coolant temp sensor & fix the exhaust leak & see if it runs better.

bugger .... I have NGK ones with the lights ... its the front ones i'm thinking of, both the TT and Leon have xenons and these seem a little dim, and i'm not one for aftermarket conversions, i'd rather stick a brace of lights across the front WRC style
Any idea if there is a gasket in the exhaust ?

I put HIDs on dipped and philips extreme on main. The light output is amazing. So much better than when I had the phase 1 lights in, they also look terrible lol.

Not reccomended with the HIDs though, you'll blind everyone. When did the car last have a service?

Changing the air filter may help with the "running rich" problem too, it did with my 1.4

I need to get a Haynes manual but in the meantime where is the fuel filter on the 206 1.4 8v, I'm assuming it's at the back near the fuel tank. I've searched but not found it - the forum that is. I was going to change the plugs but since I have NGK ones I'm going to listen to forum advice and get the Bosch ones, if someone doesn't mind Ngk's then you can have them £5 posted

Ha ha, I did google them but ones with 4 xenons and made from carbon fibre were double what I paid for the car

Yeah but its virtually impossible to sort out the washers, auto levels, and the fact that the light internals are all wrong.

HIDs are fine as long as they are aligned and you don't buy China crap....you won't blind anyone.
