Hey guys a few weeks back a lorry drove into me damaging my front end and as I came to repair it I notice a black sort of tube behind the driver side wing ... Does anybody know what it is called? And what it does exactly ... Much appreciated if anybody gets back to me .. Thank you

its a petrol vapour absorber canister mate
It captures fuel vapors and prevents them from escaping to the atmosphere and then stores the fumes and recycles them to the fuel tank or engine intake for combustion as needed.
The long and short of it is that it helps to protect the environment and improve fuel economy.

Cheers for the reply mate appreciate it ... I've never seen one before on any of my other cars and I looked at it and didn't even wanna guess what it was haha ... Probably buy a new one then just to be sure I've been driving round about a month with it cracked and no charcoal stuff in it and nothings happened really
